Voronezh State Technical University

Nowadays, Voronezh  State Technical University, founded in 1956, is one of the largest institutions of higher education in Russia. The student audience of the University is about 12000 people, including those, studying at the College of Natural Science and Engineering. The teaching staff of the University includes 776 people, among which are more than 80 professors, 360 Assistant Professors and Candidates of Science.

The University consists of:

  • the Institute of Machine Construction and Aerospace Engineering;
  • 4 engineering faculties
  • the Department of Correspondence Education;
  • the Department of pre-University and Supplementary Education;
  • 40 departments (30 of them are graduate departments),
  • The College of Natural Science and Engineering,
  • The Voronezh Subsidiary of the Research Centre for the Problems of Specialist Training Quality,
  • The Voronezh Regional Centre of New Information Technologies,
  • The Department of Social Professions,
  • 15 scientific industrial complexes.

Currently being trained in 5 specialties secondary education, 7 specialties of higher education, 25 directions for bachelors and 16 directions of Masters preparation.

The main research areas of the University are:

1. Computing and problem-oriented management systems;

2. Intelligent information systems;

3. Software and hardware electrical systems;

4. The problems of industrial engineering and enterprise management in the innovative economy;

5. The advanced radio electronic and laser devices and systems for transmission, reception, processing and protection of information;

6. Micro- and nanoelectronic devices and systems;

7. The study of functional and composite materials;

8. Physics and technology of nanostructured materials;

9. Physical and technical problems of power engineering;

10. Personal and social safety, ecology and forecasting of emergencies;

11. High Tech in mechanical engineering, aircraft construction and aerospace engineering;

12. Psychological and pedagogical problems and humanization of higher technical education

The preparation of highly qualified personnel is carried out through:

- postgraduate courses in 38 specialities,

- doctoral candidate courses in 6 specialities, 

- 11 dissertation councils for defending doctoral and candidates theses

At VSTU, the educational process is conducted at the following levels:

      - Pre-University training;

      - Secondary professional education;

      - Higher professional education (Bachelors level, Masters level, Specialist level);

      - Postgraduate education the training of highly qualified scientific personnel  (postgraduate courses, doctoral candidate courses)

      - Supplementary professional education  (advanced training courses, refresher courses and other educational programmes)

The infrastructure of the VSTU comprises 5 educational and laboratory buildings, 2 hostels, 2 dining halls, 2 medical posts, and a number of other buildings, accommodating the scientific laboratories, research departments, administrative departments and service facilities
